Abstract
Essayism in literature allows us to explore unique forms of expression of subjective opinion, values and worldview. This article examines the features of the essayist tradition in American and Uzbek literature, analyzes the main motives and directions, identifies the differences and similarities of these traditions, and evaluates their socio-cultural functions
