Core-spun yarns represent a significant advancement in textile engineering, combining the mechanical advantages of continuous filament cores with the aesthetic and comfort properties of staple fiber sheaths. This comprehensive review examines the critical role of sheath fiber characteristics—particularly length, fineness, and material composition—on the quality parameters of core-spun yarns, including tensile strength, hairiness, evenness, and abrasion resistance. Through systematic analysis of experimental data from three complementary studies, this review demonstrates that long-staple cotton fibers (32 mm) with fine micronaire values (3.2) produce core-spun yarns with superior tensile strength (28.5 cN/tex), reduced hairiness (S3 = 3.2), enhanced evenness (CV% = 9.5), and exceptional abrasion resistance (16,800 cycles).
