IMPROVING THE DUST COLLECTOR USED IN COTTON CLEANING AND INCREASING ITS OPERATING EFFICIENCY

The article analyses the sources of dust formation at primary cotton processing enterprises, the fractional composition of the dust, and the designs of the cyclone-type dust collectors currently in use. It is shown that the cleaning efficiency
of cyclones is mostly limited to 85–90 %, whereas meeting the atmospheric emission limit at an inlet dust concentration of 1,500–3,000 mg/m³ requires an efficiency of 96.7–98.3 %. Directions for improving the dust collector itself, without additional
filter units, are substantiated: staged cleaning with separation of the dust into fractions, a modified inlet duct geometry, an optimal flow-rate ratio and a sealed dust
