Abstract

This article examines neutrality as a communicative and pragmatic phenomenon in natural language discourse. Neutrality is analyzed in relation to ambiguity and vagueness, with particular attention to its functional role in meaning construction. Drawing on theoretical frameworks from pragmatics, semantics, and cognitive linguistics, the study investigates how neutrality operates at lexical, semantic, pragmatic, and cognitive levels of communication. The research is based on qualitative analysis of contextualized examples from English and Uzbek, illustrating both intentional and unintentional uses of neutral expressions.
