The Impact of Social Media on the Psychological Well-being of Adolescents

This article explores the psychological effects of social media usage among adolescents, a population increasingly immersed in digital environments. While platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat provide avenues for social interaction and identity formation, growing evidence indicates that excessive or unregulated use may be linked to mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and sleep disturbances. The analysis reveals that while social media can support emotional connectivity and self-expression, it also contributes to negative emotional outcomes through mechanisms like social comparison, cyberbullying, and addictive behavior.
