Abstract

This article explores the integration of sustainable development concepts into the teaching of organic chemistry in secondary schools. It emphasizes the importance of fostering ecological awareness, rational use of natural resources, and responsible environmental behavior among students through chemistry education. The combustion processes of methane—complete and incomplete—are analyzed to demonstrate the role of oxygen in combustion efficiency, as well as the environmental implications of carbon soot and carbon monoxide formation. The study highlights how incorporating sustainability goals into chemistry lessons can strengthen students' understanding of the connection between scientific knowledge and real-life applications, ultimately contributing to the development of a more environmentally conscious generation.
