Description
The article describes the occurrence of sarcopenia in liver cirrhosis of various etiologies and the mechanisms of its development. Specifically, it presents an analysis of data from global literature on the development of sarcopenia in this disease. The article demonstrates that the mechanisms of sarcopenia development are complex and involve numerous factors, including myostatin, the rapamycin 1 complex, the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, insulin-like growth factor-1, interleukin-6 and alcohol abuse.
